Identity Theft a book review “It happened a year ago. He came in a vision. I have never fully shared this with anyone, except my wife, and at first, she didn’t believe me, but I felt it was time to put my testimony on paper.” These lines begin the first chapter of an amazing book by Ron Cantor entitled Identity Theft. The book follows the experience a young Jewish man has with an angel and the revelation presented to him concerning the Jewish people, the church, and the Messiah Yeshua. This man’s journey, and thus the reader’s as well, shows truths from history that open his eyes to the truth of the Messiah Yeshua, Jesus. By the end of the book, the young man must make a decision that will affect both his life and those around him forever. There are SO many truths in this book that I could share with you, but I have limited it to just two thus hopefully enticing you to read more. First, what did Saul (in the New Testament) change his name to? If you answered Paul, you are incorrect. The truth is that Saul did not change his name. The Bible simply states that Saul was sometimes called (or known as) Paul. But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze on him, Acts 13:9 NASB That changes everything! I don’t know about you, but I was taught that Saul changed his name. And in that one thing a seed was planted, whether intended or not, that Saul somehow lost his Jewishness and became a “Christian”. In truth, Saul became a BELIEVER in Messiah Yeshua. The term Christian wasn’t introduced until much later. This is so important because Jews believe that in order to believe in Yeshua as the Messiah they must lose their Jewishness. And after all the years of persecution for simply being a Jew, few are going to give it up willingly. Thus, they will not believe. | Identity Theft by Ron Cantor is available from Destiny Press http://messiahsmandate.org/identity-theft/ http://idtheftbook.net/ Second, what was the name of Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) half-brother whom also wrote a book in our New Testament? If you answered James, you are incorrect. Jesus’ half brother was named Jacob. However, when King James had the Scriptures translated many people suspect that the translators changed the name to James in honor of the King. Some believe it was linguistic confusion since the Latin for both James and Jacob are similar. Either way, as the author puts it, this confusion “has been a costly one.” Jews would never believe that the true Messiah would have a half brother named James since that is not a Hebrew name at all. I cannot emphasis how important and timely I believe this book is in the life of both the Jewish people and the Christian church. I found the information in this book to be eye opening and challenging to my heart and soul. Now I challenge you to read and digest it as well. I believe you will be blessed. |
On Oct 16, Chris and I meet with the family whom we started our gathering with to view a potential meeting place for our growing group. The peace that was present during this meeting was AMAZING and we are excited about the potential we see with this opportunity. The only issue is that in order to meet at this ministry’s building, we will need to provide for our own insurance while on the premises. This means that we have to create a name, file for non-profit tax status, and find an insurance carrier. Whew! All of these things were items on the group’s to-do list, now they just become top priority! Thankfully, through Chris’ position at camp, he is quite familiar with several of these steps, so at least we are not going into this blindly. Hopefully by next month I will be able to give you the info on our gathering’s official name and new location! We are SO excited that the LORD has nourished and grown the idea He birthed one year ago sitting in our yard with another family of 5 (making it a total of 11 including children) to now a budding congregation of 34! Praise to HIM from whom ALL blessings flow. Our children have a ministry opportunity of their own that they are feverishly working on. Delano Baptist contacted us a month ago and asked them to write and direct the Children’s Christmas play this year. (You know that is right up their alley!) So, after some praying and planning The Checklist was born and they are busy with practices and prop gathering. The play is written to promote a Jewish perspective of the birth of Jesus/Yeshua. The children of Delano Baptist will be presenting it on the evening of December 22nd. If you are in the area and available, please make plans to come and join us! It should be FAN-TAS-TIC! | New Prayer Requests: * Please pray for the days ahead in our gathering that will be filled with tax status, bank accounts, and all that other fun stuff! *My brother-in-law’s family as they mourn the death of his sister. Continuous Prayer Requests: *Please continue to pray for both Jonathan and Gideon’s gut health. I plan to write more concerning this in our next newsletter, but for now, simply pray for direction and healing and I am confident the LORD’s Spirit will fill in the blanks. I believe we are gaining ground! *Our family’s financial situation is an ever-looming request. We covet your prayers as we continue to find and follow the path He has laid out for us at this time in our lives and for the finances to be available for us to fulfill this calling. Praises: *My dad’s 1st cataract surgery went well. His other health issues (some that include his eyes) did not pose a problem and he is healing well. *Chris’ dad’s shoulder is continuing to heal at an amazing pace. *The location that the LORD has provided us with for our gathering. See articles for more requests and praises. In addition to our family website, Susan has a website she is building, with help from Christopher, dedicated to her budding sewing business. She has recently created a blog page on this website. You can check it out here: http://clothedinrighteousness.weebly.com/my-blog1.html |
