High Holidays Report On Sept 7 we meet in Cleveland for a slightly late Rosh Hashanah (or Yom Teruah) celebration. This was the first time we combined the Cleveland and Chattanooga groups. We had 28 people in attendance, even though one of our regular families was unable to be there due to sickness. I think the fellowship was wonderfully sweet! We had a family visit with 3 older children/teenagers. Since we had such a wonderful meeting on the 7th, our gathering decided to meet for a closing service to Yom Kippur on Sept 14th. I forgot to count the number that night, but most everyone was in attendance. We had our first Jewish young man to attend. Nicholas (Samuel is his Hebrew name) is an 18 year old from Middle Tennessee attending Lee University here in Cleveland. Nick has been to our house several times over the Sukkot holiday and we have enjoyed getting to know him better. On Sept 21 we met for our regular Sabbath meeting. Even though we had 2 families out with sickness and it was a rainy messy day, we still had 21 in attendance. | New Prayer Requests: * Please pray for Gideon. He is having some issues with his gluten intolerance and what we are beginning to think is a Candida overgrowth (related to his gluten issues). Continuous Prayer Requests: *Please continue to pray for Jonathan’s health. Pray for his H-pylori bacteria to be put under control by the Almighty’s hand and for the damage it creates to be erased. *Please covet to pray with us about our financial situation. Pray that the LORD will provide Chris with the job situation he needs to allow him not only the time he needs to study and prepare for the teachings he leads, but also meet our bills. (This is even more needed now that the summer is coming to a close and his yard jobs will be slowing down.) Praises: *Christopher’s wisdom teeth removal went very smoothly. He is doing well and is hoping this is his last surgery for a LONG time! *Chris’ dad’s shoulder surgery went great and he is mending right on schedule. Due to the extremely busy High Holiday season as well as the busiest month of the year at Life Care (where Chris works part-time and I work on a call-in basis), I am cutting this month’s newsletter short. As I sit here writing, I am on my first day off in 5 days. I have put in 58 hours since last Sunday morning and Chris will clock in around 65 plus the yard jobs by the time today ends for him. It has been Life Care’s annual meeting this week and that means LONG days and SHORT sleep nights for us. We are SO thankful for the work though, as it brings in some much needed finances for our family. Amazingly though, I have kept up with the children’s homeschooling and even though my floors need sweeping in a really bad way, the house is still intact! Unless the LORD leads otherwise, I plan to review a book for you in October that I am super excited about. My children think I should try to contact the author and become his official advertisement because I have recommended it to so many people! I also plan to give you details about a ministry opportunity the children have concerning a play they have written. We pray your month goes well and that the LORD will bless you and keep you, making His face to shine upon you, granting you His peace. |

“I had 7,000 acres of land, 3,000 camels, 500 pairs of strong horses and 5,000 pounds of gold, as well as a great number of servants; I was the wealthiest man in the land.” Matthew said. "What happened that got you tied to that tree?" the demure man asked. “Well I am getting to that,” Matthew said and then continued "One day when my sons and daughters were at their oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to me and said that my horses were running in the field with the donkeys grazing near them when a raiding party from Diger came and carried them off. They put all the servants to the sword, and that he was the only one who escaped. But while he was still speaking, yet another men came busting through the door, rambling on about raiders, three bands of them, falling on the storehouse and carrying off all the gold. They put the servants to the sword too, and he was the only one who escaped to tell me. As the man was still speaking, another man came and said that my sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house when suddenly a strong wind blew in from over the desert. It struck the four corners of the house so that it fell on the young people; they were all dead. Another man came running in saying that fire from The Sustainer fell out of the sky and burned up all my land and the servants; it completely destroyed it all. He said that he had seen it all and had come to tell me. Finally, Collarin himself came crashing through the house slaying my wife and the men right before my very eyes. He then grabbed me, bound me hand and foot and carried me off to the remote parts of the knot woods where he tied me to a tree and began to bargain with me. I commanded him to leave and he fled. I was then left tied to this tree for three days" Matthew finished. "Wow, after all that why not just curse The Sustainer and be killed by fire?" the demure man suggested. "For surely you have upset The Sustainer for him to do this horrible thing to you" the demure man observed. "When one does wrong The Sustainer punishes him. You, Matthew, are being punished so you must have done something wrong" the demure man added. "I have done no indiscretion against man nor The Sustainer" Matthew said. "Why is it that you send your wrath upon me Lord?" Matthew cried. God Bless C.D.S Now that Matthew was rid of Collarin, a new problem took his place: rain, hard rain. Thankfully only a modicum of it could make it through the leaves to the young man tied to the tree (which you know as Matthew.) After three days of rain, wind, rain, and more rain Matthew’s clothes and appearance had debased so that he could hardly be recognized as a human much less a king. The rain was not Matthew's only problem, for along with the rain Matthew was now getting little red spots on his skin. "Why do you torture me so?" Matthew cried out in anger to The Sustainer. But just as Matthew thought his chances of being freed were gone, a demure looking man came walking though the woods. Matthew was elated, to see another human as he called out to the demure man. As the demure man untied Matthew from the ropes that were binding him to the tree he seemed to have great empathy for Matthew. After the demure man found out who Mathew was and what happened to him he immediately brought Matthew back to his house. Matthew's clothes and person were refurbished and he began to tell the man his story. God Bless C.D.S So here is clue two for the story game Collarin exclaimed between gritted teeth. “You can not coerce me into bowing to you, I serve the one and only Sustainer and bow to no other” Mathew said with that kingly authority that almost made Collarin fall to his knees. Collarin gave Mathew a painful callous stare that would have made most people cower and surrender, but yet Mathew did not move. Then suddenly Mathew shattered the silence with a voice so brazen that it shook the very earth and sent Collarin to his knees. “I am redeemed by the Sustainer, your powers have no hold on me and nothing you can connive will hurt me, and now in the name of the Sustainer my Lord, leave me this day!” Mathew ordered. With great fear Collarin fled, leaving Mathew alone tied to the tree, which made Mathew wish he had commanded him to untie him from the tree first and then leave. God Bless C.D.S Do you like games? Well if so here is a game that anyone can play. This is a story that I wrote which is based on real story I think you might know. You have to guess what the real story is that this fake story is based on. Each week for the next few weeks I will put up a little more of the story to make it easier for you to guess what story it is. Here are the rules. Rule #1 when you think you know the name of the original story this story is based on, leave a comment stating your guess. Rule #2 Each person is limited to 3 guesses per post. Rule #3 You must come up with the right answer before February,16 2013. So here is the first part of the story. Matthew was tugging with his entire might, trying to free himself from the ropes that were binding him to the tree as Collarin stood there mocking his struggles. “You should learn how to be acquiesce, that would make my job so much easier,” Collarin said. “Well I am sorry that my inability to be acquiesce inhibits you from making your job easier” Matthew sarcastically remarked. “If you would just surrender your army and bow to me, then I would be the most jubilant man on the earth” explained Collarin. “Hypocrisy is not a virtue that I practice as king” Matthew said with such authority that it was quite obvious he was the king. “Oh don’t try to fool me with that talk about being king, you know just as well as I that you are just a small weak little novice when it comes to being a king” Collarin mocked. “Just a little obsequiousness is all ask for, everyone else in the kingdom besides you and your rebels have been quite obsequious, now why is that so hard for you?” So do you know what the story is yet? God Bless C.D.S Never ruin an apology with an excuse. Well to start off this post I would like to say SORRY EVERYONE!!! I really have no reason as to why this post is so late besides that I just simply forgot. So with one BIG SORRY I now will finish the story that I started...or will I? Last time on "Just Two Dollars" my family and I piled in the van, as we so often do when we can get Dad to stop talking, but instead of heading to our house we were going in the total opposite direction. Now being the great observer that I am, I stated the complete obvious, "We're going the wrong way." And now the exciting sequel to "Just Two Dollars". "Where are we going?" a completely confused voice asked. "To Goodwill in Athens to see if we can find any more suits for extras" the calm all knowing Mother replied. This information threw me for a complete loop. Why, you may ask. Because I knew not of the existence of this so called Goodwill in Athens (good reason to be confused right?). So after dad went through a very long unnecessary history of how Goodwill came to be in the same town as the legendary Dairy Barn, we finally got there. However what we saw and heard when we pulled into the parking lot almost made us get back in the car and leave for good.
