You know, it is amazing how God works through the smallest things. What do I mean? Well, we have some amazing stories of how God has helped us through tough times but I just will share one with you today. Have you ever needed something but just didn't have the money to get it? (If you ever try to make a movie this will happen a lot!!!!!) We really needed a good box light but as you can guess we didn't have the money. Filming was just 4 weeks away and we still needed a light! Then God showed his hand but I did not know it until after the fact. |
An elderly lady friend of ours from church came up to me and took my hand.
She opened her trembling hand and slid two well-worn bills in and then closed it tight with her’s.
"That's for the movie,” she said.
Now I feel that I need to set the record straight here. It was indeed well known in our church that we were making a movie, but not many people had given us any money at this point. Yes, there were others that gave money throughout the process, but the perfect God given timing of this two dollars is the reason that it's story is being told. Maybe we will tell about the others some other time. But back to the scene at hand.
After she handed me the money and told me why she gave it to me she gave one of those heart-warming hugs that only can come from an old widow. I thanked her kindly and she went back to get ready for choir. After she left I sat there wondering how two dollars could make a different in a movie when we had already spent over 6,000 dollars on the project.
Now don't get me wrong, I was truly grateful for the two dollars but you know how sometimes you just can't keep from wondering?
Nothing particularly relevant to this story happened during the service so for time's sake we will just skip to after church. My family piled in the van as we so often do when we can get Dad to stop talking, but instead of heading to our house we were going in the total opposite direction. Now being the great observer that I am, I stated the complete opposite, "We're going the wrong way."
